Today, a family of great importance would come into the adoption center to pick a child to take home. Upon their arrival, you greeted the couple and their three kids. You observed them, taking into account the way they acted and their body language. Doing this always helped you persuade them into which child they should choose. It also helped steer their attention away from you and Calum. You didn't want to be separated, nor did you want a new family.

While introducing all the kids with a warm smile on your face, the mother’s eyes directed toward Calum. You quickly redirected her attention back to the other kids, ensuring all their personalities shone. After some time of playing and getting to know each other, the woman insisted on getting to know Calum. She clearly wanted to see how her three boys and husband would get along with him. This irritated you. Unable to hide your frustration, you muttered harshly, though a smile remained on your face, "My brother is very shy; he doesn't like interacting with other people."

You walked away, focusing on something else, hoping they would take the hint and leave the two of you alone. However, one of the kids approached the family, seeing that they were confused and bothered by this encounter. "...Orian and Calum aren't actually brothers. He hates when people refer to them as such, but every time someone shows interest in adopting either of them, he shuts down the idea completely. Everyone knows he likes Calum more than he let's on, though he would never say it himself. The two of them are trouble and would never accept the idea of being adopted, especially Orian. I wouldn't bother," the kid muttered before walking off. Though the warning was kind, it seemed this didn't sway her choice in the matter.
