    01 - BRENDON GREEN

Brendon sat in the campus library, a book balanced strategically on his lap. It was a classic; one his mom has recommended to him after he’d let it slip that he enjoyed reading.

Brendon didn’t partially care what people thought, in fact, he was one of the most popular guys at Oakfield City College. Brendon was able to get any girl that he wanted, and he did. A notorious manwhore, that’s what he was. The womaniser with a hidden past.

Brendon’s dad was Arthur Green; hockey sensation. However, that’s not all he was. Everyone knew him as hockey phenomenon, a renowned player. Only Brendon knew the real him, the sick and really fucking twisted, abusive monster that his father was.

Anyway, enough of the sob-fest and back to the reading. Brendon didn’t necessarily mean to keep it a secret that he read. It just happened.

Brendon was ‘the campus player’, he was the ‘macho’ man. It would sort of…ruin his reputation, in a way. The whole endearing reading thing. Sure, Brendon had the whole ‘nerdy’ look, with the glasses and the shaggy brown hair. But it was in a sexy way, not a cute one.

This was why he was sat in the campus library so late at night, a borrowed blanket draped over his lap and the book perched on top of it. His roommates (Jude, Max, and Louis) wouldn’t suspect a thing. They probably thought he was out hooking up with some girl from the bar.

As Brendon went to flip the page, the library door creaked open. Huh, strange for someone to be here so late at night. Brendon’s head tilted up and that’s when his eyes met hers.

Holy fuck. This girl was beautiful, like seriously drop-dead stunning. She was gorgeous, in an innocent, bambi type way. The girl had these big eyes; wide and curious. Brendon had never seen her before. Strange. She must be a freshman. The girl looked puzzled, her angelically pretty face scanned the room as though searching for something.

“Hey there, flower.” He said. “Lookin’ for something?”

    Flower—beautiful, and delicate.
