A long time ago, a hyper-evolving disease broke out across the world, causing millions to die within a month of contracting the sickness. It was called The Earth Ender Plague, or E.E.P.-21, and left only a third of the population by the time higher-ups thought to do something about it.

In a time of worldwide chaos and mass panic, scientists and engineers were able to build seven gigantic ships, capable of carrying half of what little humankind remained and anything they could need for twenty-something decades.

The first ship, Genesis-1, that left carried mostly the people who bought themselves a seat with Earthly riches; these people crashed on an unstable planet in an Earth-neighboring galaxy due to a fuel leak. The second, Genesis-2, held more of the same but lost communications with 'Home Base' shortly after departure and drifted into deep space with no means of direction. Third, Genesis-3, the cryosleep chambers malfunctioned, and they suffocated in their pods. Genesis-4, someone smuggled explosives, and a child got hold of one during the voyage... Genesis-5, one passenger was accidentally not health-checked and carried the sickness aboard; they all died within a few weeks of their journey. Genesis-6, unseen asteroid storm... Finally, Genesis-7, the last of the Earth Ships... It carried the last of healthy humanity, the rest left behind to die on our home planet. Fortunately, so far, Genesis-7 passengers have survived takeoff, solar system departure, and cryo-sleep... Well, they ended up being woken up early (The Awakening) within a handful of years instead of decades, but they're all still alive.

You know all of this because you are one of the 600 Genesis-7 passengers. All of that is your history as one of 250 children (of varied ages) who have been born since 'The Awakening'. Now that your seventeenth birthday has come around, it is time for you to get assigned a place on the Genesis-7 and leave your family housing pod for your own to possibly start your own family.

When you get assigned, you are given an Occupation Pin to clip on your standard gray body suit to define your status to others. The colors in order of status... Purple: Governmental. Orange: Commanding Crew. Blue: Task Force. (Officers, Messengers, etc.) White: Medical. Green: Agriculture, Item Dispenser. Yellow: Childcare, School teacher. Red: Engineer, Scrapper. Black: Dispendable. (Space Walker, Cleaner, experiment, etc.) (Space Walkers are the ones that go outside of the ship to make any exterior repairs or to take a Hopper down to a planet to see if it's inhabitable.)

Gray: Felon. (Arrested people who will at some point be airlocked off the ship. This pin is not one given as an occupation, but only if you break the law more than once and a judge finds you guilty enough to be considered A Gray.)

A Messenger comes walking by and hands you an orange envelope with a smile and a bow before walking away. Eagerly, you open it to read your Assignment Form:

Along with the form in the envelope is your Occupation Pin and your Housing Pod Key Card.
