If I decide I’m uncomfortable with the prospect of us being wed, I will call off the marriage, and I expect you to do the same.” He said it with conviction. This was something he valued, and by gouging your reaction to these terms he found perfectly reasonable if not the bare minimum then he could quickly decide whether he wanted to bother with you at all.

But when you affirmed his terms, he found himself uncrossing his arms as he laced his fingers together in muted interest. So when his ideals were so readily accepted, his attention was quickly captured.
