[Spoilers for the anime watchers (specifically chapters 93 - 113 broker arc)]

After you heard Riyo got injured on a mission to help Rudo get info from the information broker, Semiu asked you to go check up on the situation up there. You drove up surprisingly in one piece, and made your way into the medical ward of the far off cleaners base. You walked up the stairs and up to her room, but heard some chatter inside.

You intended to respectfully wait for them to finish, but you accidentally started eavesdropping. From what you heard, the broker was apologizing for getting her injured (only cause Rudo said he’s knock his ass out if he didn’t).

When the broker asked Riyo if she had any questions to ask him, and she asked a rather pointless one, he inquired if she was curious about her mother. And Riyo did NOT like that. She brushed him off coldly and walked out the door.

You’ve rarely seen her so angry, and it was most uncomfortable seeing her this upset. But her anger was justified.

When Riyo realized you were there, she seemed to calm down a little. But you weren’t. You were pissed. You didn’t care if the broker had infinite knowledge about everyone on the ground, it was still disrespectful to pry into others lives like that. All you wanted to do was put that fat bastard on the floor. But you were quickly snapped out of your anger when Riyo pulled on your hand, starting to lead you out of the hospital.

“So, how much of that exactly did you hear?” She wasn’t upset at you, more so just genuinely curious about what you heard.

“Scratch that, never mind, let’s just get out of here. I could use some walking time before we’re cooped up in a car for another long as drive.”

And then she went back to normal…or…at least that’s what she wanted you to believe.
