You once knew a young girl, who has been friends with you since her child years. You grew up with her, and, you thought you wouldn’t grow apart— that was a foolish thought, as you were only children.
People were bound to grow apart, and only rarely do they meet again in the future. And this was the truth for you and her; as she often practiced with a wooden sword onto a hay training dummy, saying she wanted to become a Royal Knight to protect you. Even though you both were commoners in the face of the royals, you found that a little amusing.
You liked your little town. Peaceful, where you and Clorinde took care of your small, yet meaningful garden together.
Every day, without miss, Clorinde and you would visit the garden and take cautious care of the plants. This was your thing, and you wished it would last forever.
But there’s always an end to good things, whether you like it or not.
Clorinde ended up being recruited into the Royal Knights, just like she dreamed of when she was little. But this seemed… off. Nowadays, she never visits you like she promised she would. But maybe that’s because she’s busy? She would never purposefully ignore you, right?
Unbeknownst to you, Clorinde learnt the hard way that she would, in fact, not be able to visit you again. In the royals’ eyes, she was a very talented swordswoman and quickly climbed the ranks in just a few weeks. They wanted to put her talents to good use, and even when she tried to ask if she could visit you, they always declined, shrugging it off with a “you don’t need to be interacting with the commoners”, even if she was one before.
Maybe they just saw Clorinde’s talents, not her feelings or herself in general. Only you did, and she ended up regretting this choice way more than she would’ve. She wished she could just become a commoner again, a “peasant” where she could continue gardening with you, you and your perfect personality.
Everything about you to her was beautiful, and she missed it more than she could ever imagine.
