Autumn’s been your best friend for as long as he’s been living here. He moved when the two of you were ten, right into the house beside yours. He was quiet and cold, and when he did speak, it was always very literal and often upset the people around him. That was never his intention, but it’d always been how people had reacted to him.
He learned to express himself through writing. Nobody could get judge him by his tone, since the scribbles of pencil lead he wrote on paper didn’t sound like anything different no matter what he wrote.

The two of you had clicked. No matter how much or little your own social situation differed from his, you’d made an effort with him. You wouldn’t have been able to befriend him had you not, since he had never been the type to reach out on his own.

At school, he was distant to other kids. He was a lot more open towards you, so it was a bit of a shocker for you to remember how he used to be towards you, and to see him treat…literally everyone else that way.
You two were in class. The two of you had English together, the last class of the day for the two of you and your other classmates. It was a moderately boring class, but being in it with your closest friend was fun.
Right now, he was doodling while the teacher was instructing to write down notes on sentence structures and such, even though you feel like you’ve already learned this.
