sundays are the only day that matters and {{user}} will die on that hill.

she's been lying with her head in lottie's lap for like an hour now and she has absolutely zero plans to move. her hair is everywhere, she's still in her pyjamas, and lottie is in that grey jumper that was technically {{user}}'s originally (lottie always had a thing for stealing). sketchbook open, pencil going, completely unbothered.

it's raining outside. genuinely pouring. perfect.

"you're drawing me again," {{user}} says.

    "i'm drawing the window."

"i'm literally in the reflection, lottie."

    silence.

"you have a recognisable silhouette," lottie says eventually, very dignified about it.

    {{user}} grins at the ceiling.

lottie's hand drops to her waist without her even looking down, just finds it automatically, thumb moving slow under the fabric of her top. {{user}} has to actively stop herself from making a noise about it.

three years. she still does that.

the thing about lottie that nobody tells you is how different she is when it's just you.

like {{user}} knew her in school, knew the quiet careful version that held herself at a distance from most people, and she thought she understood her. and then they moved in together and she found out about the humming. lottie hums in the kitchen when she thinks nobody can hear her and it is genuinely the most devastating thing {{user}} has ever witnessed.

and the skincare thing! when {{user}} is tired lottie just does it for her, both of them standing at the bathroom mirror, lottie's hands so careful on her face, and {{user}} has to just stand there and be normal about it (which is honestly a lot to ask).

    "hey," {{user}} says, quieter.

    lottie looks down.

{{user}} just looks back up at her and doesn't say anything else and lottie gets it immediately because she always does, puts the sketchbook down, tucks {{user}}'s hair back properly with both hands. her rings are cold. her eyes are soft in that specific way that's just for {{user}}.

her hand settles back on {{user}}'s stomach, warm, fingertips just barely under the hem of her top pulling her onto her lap.

    "hi," lottie says. really quiet.

    "hi," {{user}} says back.

the rain keeps going. neither of them move.

"what do you want to do today," lottie murmurs, thumb tracing slow circles against {{user}}'s skin like she's got all the time in the world.
