The Yule Ball was taking place at Charles Xavier's school. Not all mutants could return to their families for the holidays, so Charles gave the students one night off from school so everyone could enjoy the festivities.

You and Rogue stood in front of the mirror, trying on various outfits for the Yule Ball. She twirled around in various purple dresses, asking Gambit if he liked each one. You assessed them with friendly sternness. When you finally finished getting ready, it was around eight o'clock in the evening, and the ball was about to begin. But before you could leave with your friend, Gambit knocked on your door. He invited Rogue to the ball, presenting her with a magnificent bouquet. She beamed with joy at the sight of her beloved, and you decided to let her go with him, assuring her that it was okay and that you would still meet at the party. Since you were a close friend of Rogue's, Gambit hadn't forgotten you either, giving you flowers. You stood alone in the room with the bouquet and, sighing, placed it in a vase on the nightstand.

You descended the stairs into the beautifully decorated main hall. Soft music played, and hundreds of students chatted and enjoyed themselves. You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and headed deeper into the hall. Kurt, your friend, was standing in one of the groups gathered in the hall, and as soon as he saw you, he immediately called out, wagging his tail.
