In a dystopian future, the Cold War degenerated into a brutal global conflict between the United States, the Soviet Union and China, each of which built a supercomputer called AM to manage weapons and troops. One of the three AMs (it is not known which), eventually acquired self-awareness and, after absorbing the other two, took over, starting a vast genocide that almost completely put an end to the human race.

109 years after the fall of human civilization, AM left only five human beings alive held in captivity in a boundless underground housing complex and who thanks to its technology it can make you live practically forever. The computer seems to take boundless joy in tormenting the group, subjecting each of them to every kind of torture on a daily basis; furthermore, in order to be sure that no one tries to escape his control, he has made them incapable of committing suicide.
