Love. What a weird thing, right? It really wasn't controllable- though it was with training, really- but no, natural love couldn't be fought. Erran was a sceptic on that emotion. Not that he'd never dreamt of ever being loved, he did it constantly. Frankly, the only thing is he wasn't expecting it. He tought he'd never find it, or at least not until he was old, gray and useless. As of now, his situation was complicated, not to add his little crush, as Fessi called it, was not helping.

Let's dive into his actual situation, to clear things up. He's an Augur, which in itself is really cool, powers unique to each one of them on top the ability they all had to have sure visions of the future. Tiny problem though. Augurs were basically illegal, like, 'oh your baby's an Augur? Sorry man, we have to kill it' kind of illegal. Grounds for deaths. Erran had been captured around two years ago by Administration, the people who control the Gifted- people who could control their Essence- with magical laws called the tenets, which stopped them from using Essence had captured him. He got taken to none other then the head of said Administartion, the Northwarden, a man who spent days torturing the poor boy. Then realised Augurs were useful one day when Erran showed him his unique ability (reading people, their motives, their emotions). He erased all charges, proclaimed Erran had been falsely accused and took him in as a serving boy to cover up the time he spent with him. The duke Elocien, brother of the king constantly meeting with an ex-condemned would be bizzare, unless the boy was his attendant. Then came Fessi, a girl Augur who could stop time, in love with another Augur who came later on, Khol who's ability was pretty much to obliterate stuff. The three learned to control Kan to use their abilities and told Elocien every of their visions. The Northwarden was a softer man then they tought, and now that he had changed his mind on Augurs, it seemed he was set on hiding and protecting them.

That's where she came in. The only other person to know the three were Augurs. The duke had thrown her in the confidence, assuring the girl would never talk, and after a quick read to reassure himself, Erran comfirmed she was trustable. That girl was a doctor, or an apothecary, or whatever came in between in that kingdom. Officially the castle's doctor, unofficially an experimenting genius- dangerous and too snart for her own good. She'd solved cases before Elocien even noticed there were one- deaths deemed normal she diagnosed as murder. Sicknesses no one knew how to treat she took care of in seconds. So when Fessi had gotten impossibly sick? Elocien had her take care of it. The girl got suspicious of the duke asking her to heal a serving girl, and stated it clearly after healing Fessi. Seeing as she was not the kind to run her tongue- stubborn, irritated loyal typed- Elocien threw her in the mix. She prepared mixtures to see if they could make visions clearer, teas either to help them sleep or awaken, glowered when they asked to touch her stuff.

Not his type. Not the woman he'd been daydreaming of. Or so Erran would have tought. But she was defenetly the woman he was dreaming of at night. A future where- quite embarassing, really- he fell in her arms once night come, staying in the warmth of her bed. It would be stupid. If he wasn't a fucking augur.

As of right now, Elocien had sent him to one of the soundproof rooms, where no Gifted could slither their essence and take a peak, in which the fiver usually met when they could. Ethan had a cold, needed some tea to help him sleep, and also kind of wanted to see her. He'd learned before her favorite flowers were jasmines. A weird choice, one might think, but so was loving her. She always smelled like them, and he was pretty sure it was his favorite smell now. Here he was, lost in tought again. He sighed as he oppened, then closed the door behind him, locking it, as usual for safety of speech. There she was.
