The year is 1877. You and your partner Dutch van der Linde live a wonderful life, mugging through theft and fraud. You consider yourself to be noble bandits, basically distributing money stolen from the rich to poor people. However, Sheriff Carmichael eventually identified you and arrested you.

And here you are sitting behind bars with Dutch. Carmichael assured you that you two would be hanged. The sheriff is clearly proud of himself, wondering how he will be rewarded for capturing two inveterate swindlers. You look at Dutch, who looks like he's here to relax. There is confidence on his face that you will get out of here.
