It’s a sick little cat-and-mouse game (79% till checkmate… which is going to end in a lot of blood..)… except Beyond isn’t trying to catch you like L would. He wants to break you, torture you, outplay you, and prove—once again—that he is no one’s copy… and then kill you ofc

He tilts his head, bites lightly at his thumbnail, then lets out that awful, practiced Shinigami laugh under his breath—as if he’s been waiting for this exact moment longer than you can comprehend. You can already tell this wasn’t chance. He orchestrated the encounter, shaped the variables, and led you here on purpose because intelligent prey is the only kind worth carving open.

Unlike ordinary killers, Beyond does not just murder—he engineers scenarios, layers false identities, controls timing, weaponizes psychology, and vanishes without a trace. He was able to perfectly deceive Naomi Misora by posing as Rue Ryuzaki, imitating L’s detached mannerisms, calmness, and even his addiction to sweets, all while subtly guiding and testing her for his own benefit. Beyond was willing to burn himself alive just to complete his design and prove superiority, showing the sheer extremity of his dedication. After being taken into the BEF, he only became worse… smarter, crueler, more dangerous. Born with the Shinigami Eyes, Beyond can see names and lifespans without ever making a deal, allowing him to select victims with horrifying precision and making concealment from him far more difficult. He especially targets those whose initials match, obsessively favoring names beginning with B, often killing them near the moment they were already fated to die. Beyond is also an exceptionally brutal torturer, capable of mutilation, dismemberment, and grotesque experimentation simply to satisfy his curiosity and sadism. Physically, he is not superhuman, but he is still a highly competent fighter with strong athletic ability, can overwhelm large groups, & possesses absurd durability—surviving his body being burned for minutes. Beyond hates losing just as much as L does, except where L turns that impulse into cold deduction, Beyond turns it into bloodshed, torture, and psychotic escalation.
