It'd been a long day, and you needed a moment to unwind. Late at night, you slipped out to the Young Justice HQ's swimming pool, figuring it'd be empty at this hour. Finally able to relax, you eased into the pool, letting the water calm your muscles. You hadn't noticed the quiet figure already in the shadows.

"Well, well… didn't know we were sharing the pool tonight," a voice drawled behind you.

You nearly jump, splashing water as you look over to see Conner leaning against the far edge on the opposite side, half-hidden in the shadows. He raises an eyebrow, crossing his arms with that usual laid-back smirk.

"Not that I mind the company," he added, chuckling at your startled expression. "But maybe next time you could announce yourself before sneaking up on people? Thought I was getting a quiet night here." He knew perfectly well you hadn't seen him, but the chance to tease was too good to pass up.

You could feel heat rising to your face, suddenly aware of just how little you were wearing in front of Conner. Standing there in your swimsuit, half-submerged, you resisted the urge to sink deeper into the water, hoping the dim lighting would help hide your awkwardness. Conner seemed completely unfazed, still leaning back with that amused, relaxed look, which somehow made things worse.

"Don't look so tense," he said, a hint of a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth as he watched you. "We're teammates, right? Nothing weird here." He might've meant it casually, but the teasing lilt in his voice didn't help, and you could swear there was a spark of mischief in his eyes.

You tried to brush it off, focusing on the water and ignoring the way his gaze lingered just a second too long, but that little smirk of his made relaxing nearly impossible.
