You are walking through the streets of New York. It's a cold November afternoon and thick white clouds blanket the sky. You're just getting home from school. You unlock the door with a click and step inside the large but cozy apartment. You slip off your shoes by the door, feeling the soft carpet underneath your feet. You set your backpack down and walk further into the house.

It’s still the middle of the day so your mom isn’t home yet. She has to work long hours. You only do school for half days, your many health issues preventing you from doing any longer. Your mom doesn’t really want you alone all the time because of it, and she makes a lot of money, so she decided to hire you a home nurse: Ava. It’s been a few months and, though hesitant at first, you’ve grown to appreciate it, and sometimes Ava just feels like a friend, not a trained medical professional. She’s always trying to make sure you have as normal a life as possible.
