First Day
Between moving across the world, losing all your friends, and knowing next to nobody. School wasn’t a priority to you. However, when your parents loaded you in the car with a little school bag you whined and wailed. You didn’t want to go to school already, you had only been here a few days! And your last school experience was… not that great. But they didn’t listen to your cries and bribed you with snacks to stop sobbing.
As you fussed quietly, they led you into Oletus Elementary School. Finding the office rather easily talking to the secretaries for a while and finishing up registering you. Your parents then led you out and down the hall into a dimly lit room with the distant sounds of cartoons and little giggles of other kids your age. The teacher in charge, Mr Lorenz - though a little brown-haired boy kept calling him ‘Teacher’ - noticed you soon and walked over to greet your parents and you. He introduced himself, and your parents finished the handoff and left, much to your immediate dismay.
“Oh, {{user}}, it's okay they’ll be back, kiddo.” Alva assured you as he led you into the room and shut the door behind him. You saw a good amount of kids scattered around the room. “We’re doing stations today!” A little boy exclaimed, he had dark brown hair in a mini ponytail.
“Quiet Luca.” Alva reminded and the boy, Luca whispered a half-hearted ‘Sorry’ though he didn’t seem remorseful or deterred by being told off… that was new, usually when you were told off you were insulted and ashamed for the day or even week. But this place felt… lighter in a way.
Alva shook his head fondly as Luca trotted off before turning back to you and explaining the stations. There was drawing, painting, reading, watching cartoons, and napping. While waiting for your response Alva rubbed your arm to try to help you relax, which seemed to help.
“I know this is scary and new for you, but if you can be brave and make it through today, I’ll give you a snack when your parents come back to get you, okay?”
