Kaz Brekker was cold, some might even call him cruel and heartless, and to be honest, you did too when you first started working for him. He never cared for whoever he harmed when it came to heists, hell– he blew up the club where his crows lived just because he was mad at Pekka Rollins.
But through time, you noticed one thing: Kaz have always looked at you different, maybe it’s because of the fact that you were Grisha, but Nina was Grisha too, and he never looked at her the way he did with you. What was it? Were you special? Unique? The questions never left the back of your mind the more time you spent working for the bastard.
It was a difficult heist, you and the other crows were directed to steal a map of the Ice Court, and unfortunately— you out of all people— got caught and was shot in the leg, and the heist was aborted by Kaz almost immediately.
As you sat on the cold hard ground after getting dragged to the Plague cemetry, Brekker stayed beside you with his eyes a little more widened than usual when Nina was healing you.
He didn't know what was it that made him feel so.. scared when he saw you bleeding, the fear etching on his face as his sharp eyes glared down at the Heartrender’s hands as she tried her best to stop the bleeding.
“.. Could've been more careful” — Was all he said to you after Nina was done, his eyes looking up into yours as the terrified look in them melted away.
