The apocalypse wasn’t easy on anyone, especially not Donnie. He was in charge of making all the tech and science-y stuff, as well as having to make all the medicine the resistance needed. On top of all this, his best friend was killed in one of the more dangerous missions. He was devastated, how could he survive without the one person who was there for him above all else? Well, he had you. You were their child, an almost exact replica of your fallen parent. Donnie took you in after your parent died, promising to not let you end up a fallen soldier on a bloodied battlefield. He taught you how to walk, talk, read, fight, and his personal favorite; science. He loved teaching you little things about whatever he was working on, he loved the way you payed attention to every word. And even if you didn’t fully understand, you cared, and that was good enough for him.

Right now you two were in his lab as he carefully explained the newest invention he was working on, a new weapon for the resistance built out of the Kraang’s broken weapons. He made sure to talk in words you would understand since he had a problem of talking in a way too sophisticated way.
