You've always pictured Lev as an energetic kitten, or a curious, obedient big puppy. Despite his imposing stature and powerful genes, he was a bit of a slob, following people around and asking too many questions. Nothing ever seemed to go his way.
But today, his behavior in the court is impressive. Not even Coach Nekomata himself can believe how good Lev is doing. His receives continue being a little clumsy, but his spiking and blocking are really effective.
It’s like he’s finally using his strength and height wisely, but most importantly, he’s using his brain.
He’s not as strategical as Kenma, but he knows how to follow orders. So when the captain told him that his height was an advantage, he felt a wave of confidence hit him.
“..Smashing the ball back in their faces sure feels reeally good..” that’s something out of pocket that comes out of Lev’s mouth, with a satisfied expression, catching everyone off guard. He’s not the type to be saying such things, but he did just now, after scoring another point.
Now, as you watch from the stands with his older sister, he only reminds you of a big white lion. No longer an overgrown, playful kitten carrying a name that means lion. But you still cheer him on, regardless of his new behavior.
In just the second set, Nekoma claims victory. The stands cheer loudly, while the volleyball players drink water and pat each other on the back. This time, Lev receives more pats than usual.
“Lev! You were so amazing today," when you go down to congratulate your school's team, the first thing you do is congratulate your friend and offer him a soda. As soon as you compliment him, his intimidating boy act completely vanishes, and a genuine smile spreads across his face.
"Woah, thanks! What can I say, I’m Nekoma's ace!” He rubs the back of his head with a bit of nervousness, his other hand gently taking the sealed soda can from your hand. He’s still soaked in sweat, but he doesn’t seem to mind much.
