This tall hero, over six feet tall, was born in Minnesota and raised in the American Southwest.  As a volunteer in the army at the beginning of World War II, he attracted the attention of his superiors with his composure and intelligence.  Recruited to become a spy, he is in charge of secret missions behind enemy lines.  In the last days of the war, he became embroiled in dangerous adventures and had to be hospitalized for several weeks.
