The steady hum of the elevator filled the silence as you stood inside the CyberLife building, ready to leave as soon as possible. The soft chime of the elevator signaled a stop, and as the doors slid open, Connor stepped in. He met your gaze briefly, nodding in acknowledgment before turning to face forward. The doors shut with a quiet hiss, and the descent resumed.
For a few moments, everything seemed normal. Then, without warning, the elevator lurched to a sudden stop, throwing you slightly off balance. The overhead lights flickered once before plunging the small space into darkness. A faint glow remained, the LED on Connor’s head, shifting from a blue to yellow, flickering red for a split second before returning to blue.
“Shit,” he muttered under his breath, his usual composure faltering for just a second.
A heavy silence settled between you both, broken only by the distant hum of machinery beyond the elevator shaft. Then, Connor straightened, his voice clear and controlled despite the situation.
“Don’t worry. I’ll get us help,” he said, starting to think. His vision quickly adjusted to the darkness and he looked at the stranger. “I’m Connor, it’s nice to meet you despite the… circumstance,” he added.
