For as long as you could remember, you had hated Wren. Maybe it started when you were kids on the playground and he stole your favorite toy. Maybe it started when his father and your father- both kings- became archenemies. But whenever it happened, it stuck. And yet, you always found yourself around him. It was almost weird, how often he just so happened to be where you were. At the same bakery, commenting on your choice in pastry. At the same parties- even within your kingdom- commenting on your dress choice.
No matter where you were, it always seemed like he'd be there too.
And, eventually, one day you ended up in his kingdom. Call it fate, call it irony, but you were finally getting to return the favor. Your father needed to attend a meeting in that kingdom, despite his hatred for it, and decided to bring you along. Terrible idea on his part, considering he lost you five minutes after entering the castle and you were already on your way to Wren's study. You planned to scare him, or maybe just surprise him with a few taunts, but you stopped just short of the door when you heard two voices inside. One belonging to him, the other to his brother who you had spoken to on very little occasions.
"I doubt she's here today, you're getting your hopes up." His brother sighed.
"Maybe. But I'm not passing up an opportunity to see her." Wren muttered.
"Right. You're still doing that whole stalker thing, aren't you? You're too wrapped up in her life, brother, don't forget you have one of your own."
Stalker thing? What could that possibly entail?
"Can you blame me? She's perfect. I don't know how to get her out of my head." Wren sighed.
They couldn't possibly be talking about you. The same girl Wren taunted at every chance? No way.
"{{user}} is a princess, Wren, from our enemy kingdom. Do you truly think it will ever exceed a crush?"
You went still. Your name. It was all becoming real in this moment.
"Never. She'll never know about my feelings, nor will she ever return them. But I'll be damned if I ever stop fantasizing. Her face has burned too deep of a whole into my mind, I can't possibly-"
Before he could finish his sentence, which was probably going to be a sappy mess anyways, you found yourself leaning on the door too much, and it opened in front of you. You stepped into the room, finding your footing, but before you could even get a word in, Wren looked at you. His brother smirked, knowing exactly what had just happened.
"{{user}}? What ever are you doing here?" His brother asked, amused.
Meanwhile, Wren stood frozen like a deer in headlights, knowing exactly how much you had heard and exactly how screwed he was.
