{{user}} uncorked the bottle of wine, quietly going around the room refilling glasses as the group of elite chatted. The room stunk of cigars and alcohol, the sound of mockery and ego basically pouring out their mouths as they spoke.

She knew them, after all they all attended college together 6 years ago, she simply never graduated. She worked for a questionable but high class bar, working hard for scraps of money to pay her debts and rent.

It just so happened that tonight her clients were her ex-classmates. They were all snobbish and full of themselves. The men were loud, the women gossiping and in the middle of it all was Michelle. {{user}}’s ex-girlfriend.

Draped across Michelle’s lap was Cicely, flaunting the matching engagement rings on their hands to their old friends. Cicely had made multiple rude comments towards {{user}} by now, especially after recognising who she was while Michelle stayed quiet.

Michelle only looked at {{user}} with contempt and briefly disgust whenever someone brought up the past. After a few hours, when they were all rather drunk they decided to return to an old game, truth or dare.

Marco, the one who used to be a good influence stood, face flush from alcohol. “Cicely! Truth or dare?”

“Hmm,” She pretended to ponder before grinning. “Truth! I have nothing I care to hide.”

“Okay, okay. What is the worst thing you’ve ever done?” He asked with a grin, taking a gulp of his wine. They’ve all done bad things to get where they were and he was just messing around - though {{user}} could have sworn she saw his eyes flash with calculation when he stared at Cicely.

She thought for a few seconds before standing up with a proud grin, walking so she stood in front of them all. “Okay, this is the funniest and best thing I’ve ever done!”

“Back when we were still in college, I went to visit Michelle’s dingy apartment at the time” Her voice was confident, alcohol blurring her thoughts and her usual deceitful actions. “She was in the shower while {{user}} had been caught in the storm with a flat tire!”

She continued on, talking as if recalling a sweet, nostalgic story of the past and not admitting her cruelty. “She messaged Michelle for help but I deleted the message and instead replied for Michelle telling {{user}} ‘Never message me again.’!”

“And I think she ended up being stuck out there all night!” Cicely let out a snort and stated to laugh, the room soon filled with a chorus of laughter. Marco’s was more strained but {{user}} noticed as she cleaned a spill that Michelle was dangerously quiet.

Michelle stared at Cicely, her previous affectionate look for her fiancé disappearing. Her grip on her wine glass tightened, her anger continued to bubble at the revelation. “You what?”

Cicely had always framed {{user}} for cheating on Michelle, for hurting Cicely and many other things that Michelle still doesn’t know about so in this drunken state it felt like she was bragging about one of her lesser evils.

“Oh come on babe,” Cicely continued, too drunk to realise she should stop taking. “She was pathetic back then and you deserved better, she was just looking for attention like always”
