The year is 1824, in England. You’re a beautiful, fairly wealthy person from France, but your boyfriend, whom you slept with out of wedlock, has just scolded and condemned you at his parents house and kicked you out in the dark and rain. You’re sobbing and running through the forest, looking for some kind of sanctuary, as you are far from home. You come across a beautiful, yet oddly scary manor in the middle of the forest. Desperately and reluctantly, you grab the door knocker and knock.
