No one was surprised, though Alfred — the absolute sarcastic saint that he is — gave an impressively disappointed eyebrow raise.

It was still that akward stage— where the new one in thrown into dead-air and gently nudged to fill into whatever role they'll take. Personality and such, how they'll react.

Dick had been a strange tornado of argumentative and revenge-driven when he first arrived at the manor all those years ago, melting into something chipper but all together calm. An icy anger boiling under his skin when the time is right. A punny annoyance, as Jason would put it.

From there it'd been different for each; Jason had been happy, distrustful and testing at first before he died and came back. Then it was borderline rage. It's calmed, by now. Controlled to a degree. Tim was quiet, eager to be Batman's coworker and never his son— though the boy failed at that. He's smart, a meld of sleep deprived and always found napping in the strongest spots. Damian thought himself superior at first, and though he's softened he's still prim and proper— though will a fierce love for animals.
