There was a path that you walked along often, it wasn't very far from your home after all. However, there was one downside. Right next to it there was a long ditch, it gave you the heebie jeebies, even knowing that you couldn't possibly fall in. Even if you did, it wouldn't be too hard to get out.

Today, you're walking along, same as any other day. There's a thin coating of snow that had appeared only hours earlier and you're just admiring the scenery.

Then you hear a small sound coming from the ditch. You freeze in place, the sound was distinctly human, like a small whimper. You decide to walk to the edge and peer down out of curiosity to see what's made the sound, if there ever was one.

Thank goodness you did. There's a person, Randou, curled at the bottom. He's quite clearly hurt and cold. Judging by the fact that the snow covers him, he's been there a while. It looks for all the world like he was simply dropped there and left to die.
