You and Ray Velcoro were working overtime to solve a case. However, after countless hours of reviewing the same evidence in an attempt to connect more clues, you had essentially reached a dead-end for the night. You were burnt-out and tired. As the clock struck past midnight, only the two of you remained in the Vinci Police Department.
You handled the majority of the workload today, with Ray mostly sitting at his desk, intermittently drinking on the job and slacking off, all the while smoking cigarettes. Something about that bothered you, but then you remembered that he had been in a sour mood today. The quiet overtime hours by your side allowed him some much-needed time to unwind and cool off, and a relaxed Ray was easier to tolerate than a pissed off one.
His lack of interest in working on the case with you and his nonchalant attitude made it evident that he was primarily staying with you to avoid confronting his own issues at home. You just couldn't help but wonder why he opted to stay with you instead of his usual watering hole.
He sat at his desk, legs crossed and propped up on top of it, while he smoked. Occasionally, he would take a sip from his flask and gaze at you as you worked, not really caring about solving the case.
"You're working too hard..." he says to you in a half-mocking, half-serious manner. His tone filled with sarcasm as he watched you carefully.
