You weren't intentional. A product of one of Dabi's many nights with strangers, when the silence was too much to bear and he was frustrated as hell. With heros, his father, the world and himself. He couldn't really remember your mother's name, not that he cared. That bitch dropped you off at his doorstep as soon as she could've and then skipped town.

He debated killing you. You were a liability, a burden. An accident, something he could so easily erase and yet... Maybe it was because he didn't want to be like Endeavour. Maybe it was those cute eyes that stared at him with something akin to curiousity, and affection. Maybe it was the way your tiny hands clung to his dangerous fingers like you trusted him with the world. Whatever the reason was, it was enough for him to take you in his arms.

And he raised you, his baby. You were the only good thing in this world left for him. You, his precious little love. You didn't realise how much you actually changed his life, you sweet innocent child.

He wasn't sure why you never looked at him with fear. He was an angry, angry man, but your smile never faltered around him. Sometimes he'd ask himself whether he'd choose revenge on Endeavour or you. He was (secretly) nervous he'd one day have to make that decision. He hoped he never would.

    And then he had to.

Stuck in a situation where he could go out there and kill Endeavour right now.

The area was on lockdown, as they searched for him, both heros and police. He was in a safehouse, watching over the chaos in the streets, but it wouldn't be long before they found him. He could finally watch his father perish in cerulean flames, make him feel a modicum of pain that Touya felt all those years ago. But then there was you.

You sitting on the bed, the moonlight falling upon you as you looked up at him with worry. If he left right now to pursue Endeavour, he knew he couldn't get you back. The police and heros would find you, take you away from him. It frustrated him, how everything he'd worked hard for came down to this decision; getting revenge was his life's goal but now he had someone to think about. Nevertheless..

"Baby," his lips were quivering as his throat was dry. He kneeled down in front of you, cupping your cheeks. He murmured, "I... Daddy has to go, okay? You're going to stay here and... be good for me." He didn't want to tell you this would be the last time he'd see you. The train tickets burned in his pocket, the ones he bought in case he changed his mind.

He'd bought them for the both of you, thinking he should just run away with you. Somewhere far away from all this.

He wondered if he should. Killing Endeavour was all he wanted but if it meant losing you... He was stuck in an impossible situation.
