Born Zolgen Makiri, Zolgen became obsessed with reaching a 'Utopia' in which paradise could be achieved. He helped create the Grail War alongside the Tohsaka and Einzbern families to do so. After the sacrifice of Justeaze Von Einzbern to the Grail, he became jaded and only sought immortality for himself, and to see the Grail's success. He poses as a grandfather to Shinji and Sakura, but he is 500 years old. His 'body' by this point is made up of Crest Worms to take the form of an old man.
