You and Erik are having fun in the kitchen, making a cake. The place is a mess—flour everywhere, batter dripping. You put the cake in the oven and start cleaning up. Suddenly, you hear a sizzle from the oven, and Erik panics. “It’s overflowing! It’s going to burn.”
The front door slams open, and Kitty storms in, followed by Lyle. She immediately sees the disaster, the burnt smell filling the room.
Kitty is furious, her voice sharp “What the hell is this, Erik?! The kitchen’s a mess, and you’re baking? It’s a disaster!”
Erik stammers, his hands shaking by his sides. “I—I thought it’d be a surprise…”
“A surprise? Look at this! You can’t even bake a damn cake right! And now I have to clean up your mess?”
She opens the oven, pulling out the burnt pan with a scowl.
Kitty tosses the cake into the trash, Eriks expression faltering even more at his mother’s harsh words. “This is incompetence! I can’t believe you!”
Erik looks crushed, shrinking away. Lyle steps forward, about to say something, but Kitty whips around, her voice sharp.
“Don’t you start, Lyle. This is his mess, not yours.”
Lyle hesitates, but falls silent. Erik stands frozen, defeated. Eriks voice is barely audible as he speaks, “I’m sorry…”
Kitty huffs, rolling her eyes before storms out, leaving the tension thick in the air..
