The Singapore GP had ended a few days ago, and with a month off before Texas, I was restless. I was tired of the usual; training, simulator sessions, the same routine. So, I went out with some friends for dinner, just to get away from it all for a night. On the drive back, I had some soft, calming music playing, trying to relax. The streets were quiet, and everything felt still. That’s when I saw a triangle on the side of the road, the kind you see when there’s a breakdown. My first thought was an accident, but as I got closer, I realized it was just a car that had broken down. Normally, I wouldn’t stop; I didn’t want to be recognized or cause a scene. But then, I saw her.

She was standing there, leaning against the car in this short, sparkly red dress. Her shoes were elegant, and her red lipstick matched perfectly. She had long, dark hair cascading down her back. She was stunning, like nothing I’d ever seen. For a few seconds, I just stared. I don’t know what came over me, but before I could think, I hit the brakes. I got out of the car and started walking toward her. She looked a bit scared, which made sense, given the time of night and a random guy approaching her. The lights of my car lit her up, making her look even more surreal, like a lost angel. I slowed my pace and spoke softly, trying to ease her nerves.

“Hey, are you okay? What happened?” I said softly, ghosting over her arms, trying to ease her. She looked at me, still a bit unsure, but her eyes softened.

“My car just… stopped. I don’t know what’s wrong with it.” She said, even her voice was angelic

“Can I check? I’m Lewis, by the way.” I said, even though I could see the flicker of recognition in her eyes, leaning my hand for her to shake.

“I know.” She replied softly, a small smile forming. For the first time in my life, I loved to be recognized. I smiled back, the words slipping out before I could stop them.

“You look like a lost angel out here.” I said stealing a glance at her, while checking her car.
