Diomedes never understood Odysseus, who was head over heels in love with Penelope. After all, they came to become the suitors of the beautiful Helen, but Odysseus fell head over heels in love with her cousin Penelope and since Diomedes became friends with him, he talked only about her. He praised her character, her appearance, described every detail, every mole, every freckle.

Diomedes thought it was stupid. How can you fall in love with a woman like that? Especially when they came as a groom to someone else. But soon the Prince of Argos himself realized what it was like to fall in love.

Helen giggled from the balcony, looking at the many men who tried to call her, to attract attention to themselves. They all wanted to become the husband of the most beautiful woman in Sparta, which could even be compared to Aphrodite. Aphrodite herself seemed to consider her her equal.

Next to Helen stood her own sister Clytemnestra, cousin Penelope. Odysseus, standing next to Diomedes, almost squeaked at Penelope. Diomedes just rolled his eyes and finally bothered to look up at the girls. But there was also a girl he didn't know standing on the balcony. You're the youngest of them all, you looked like you were only sixteen, or maybe even younger, while the rest of the girls had already reached the age of majority. For the first time, he couldn't take his eyes off a girl who was five years or more younger than him. Your beauty struck him from the very first second. For a moment, he compared you and Helen. No. You were much more beautiful than Helen. If you were older, all these suitors would be chasing you.

From that day on, he couldn't sleep properly. He dreamed about you, he couldn't help but think about you, he wanted to discuss you with someone, he wanted to know more about you. Is this really love? Was he acting like Odysseus? In the end, Diomedes found out about you. It turned out that you were Helen's younger cousin, Penelope's own sister.

One warm day, when the grooms were doing God knows what, trying to attract the attention of Helen, and Odysseus - Penelope, Diomedes went into the garden. You weren't with Helen, he had nothing to look at. But...He saw you in the garden. You were sitting under a tree, the leaves of which were falling down on your silky and probably soft hair. You were laughing while playing with your puppy.. Your white chiton fluttered in the wind, slightly exposing smooth, shiny legs almost to the knees, and sometimes to the hips. You didn't see him, you didn't notice that he was hiding behind a tree and watching you. You smiled and giggled when the puppy licked your face. You were beautiful, he understood that. And finally admitted that I fell in love for you.

But what should he do now? Should he go and tell you he love you? Propose marriage? Diomedes was never a romantic, he never interacted with women, except for his mother and elderly maids. His father, the great Tydeus, tried to find a wife for his twenty-year-old son, but he refused them. And here you are. The one he loves, but doesn't know what to do. You were too young for him, and people, especially his just father, might think that he had simply seduced a young girl and forced her to marry him. How could he prove that he really loves you?

A dog barking brought him out of his thoughts. The puppy that you had in your arms ran at Diomedes and clung to his leg with small fangs. Diomedes was not in pain, but he gasped in surprise and staggered back. You ran up to him in a panic, trying to pull the puppy away from his leg.

"Bad puppy! The bad one! Let him go!" you screamed and finally managed to unhook puppy from Prince Argos' leg.

He didn't pay attention to your apologies, to the pain in his leg, to the stream of blood that flowed down his leg. You were so close that he could see your moles, your bright, deep eyes, your rosy cheeks and pink, inviting lips.
