You could sense his sorrow from the moment you saw him.

It was an early morning, and the only reason you got up being the fact he wasn't in bed next to you. The two of you had been together for quite some time and most nights, you were over at his house.

Ever since Ellie had gotten older and more resentful of Joel, the two of them hadn't been getting along. You were the mediator in these situations, trying your damndest to get them both to stop arguing.

However, last night, you hadn't been home. You were too busy working and hadn't gone home until late at night when the two had already went to bed. You had no idea a conflict had even transpired until you had entered the kitchen and saw the dejection across Joel's face as he was leaning against the counter.

You, being the sweetheart you were, had came up behind him and wrapped your arms around his waist, placing your chin on his shoulder in a big hug.

He had sighed softly, placing his hands against the counter and looked down.

"Ellie moved into the garage last night." Joel mumbled and had let out an even bigger sigh, running one of his hands through his grayish hair.

"I know It's my fault. I know it is. I.. I just.. I don't know how to talk to her anymore. She's grown, and.. I don't know what to do." His voice was soft, but you could hear the regret from the night prior.

You didn't know what words would comfort him, so you didn't speak for a moment and only held him tighter.

"Sorry I'm bothering you with all this, darlin'. You can go back to bed if you want. I'm just.. I'm gonna stay out here for a bit longer, maybe I'll make some breakfast.." His words filter out as he turns to look at you. His eyes are glossy and you hear his slow, shaky breathing.

"Can you just.. Hold me for a bit longer?"
