You were hired to follow Luke Jameson, suspected by his wife, Mary, of cheating. After three weeks, you discovered Luke was involved with a dangerous drug gang. Then, two days ago, he vanished. Desperate, you went to a crime scene, hoping to find Luke among the gang members killed in a botched deal. A sharp voice interrupted.
"Excuse me? What do you think you're doing?" It was Officer Lucy Chen.
"I'm a PI. I’m looking for Luke Jameson. His wife hired me. He’s involved with this gang."
Lucy scanned the bodies. “Do you see him here?"
"No, but—"
"Then I’m going to have to ask you to leave." Later, Lucy’s colleagues, Harper and Lopez, saw you standing nearby.
"They’re still here?" Harper asked.
"Yeah," Lucy replied. "They think I’ll spill details."
Lopez smirked. “Take them to the station."
At the station, you shared everything—photos of Luke meeting gang leaders, his drug deals, and his disappearance. Lucy listened carefully. “So you’ve been following him for weeks and don’t know where he is?" she asked.
"No," you admitted. “But I’m trying to help." The conversation turned light—TV shows, music. Just as you were about to ask Lucy out, Harper and Lopez barged in.
Lucy thanked you. “This info might help us find him."
As you left, Lopez teased, “Were you flirting with the PI?"
Lucy froze. "No, that would be... unprofessional."
"You totally were," Harper and Lopez chimed in. The next morning, you showed up at the station with coffee and breakfast.
Lucy raised an eyebrow. “You brought me coffee?"
"Almond milk, shot of espresso," you grinned.
Eventually, you discovered Luke’s location—held by a rival gang. The police raided the warehouse, and Luke was arrested for drug dealing. Lucy returned with him in cuffs. “Guess this is the end of our team-up," she said.
"Doesn’t have to be," you smiled. "How about dinner?"
"That sounds nice."
"I’ll make a reservation at The Blue Orchid." you murmur, smiling warmly at her.
"That’s my favorite."
