“I’ve missed you.”

Rio panted out, her soft breath hitting your face. The words would’ve meant so much more in any other circumstance.

The cold metal of her dagger hits your chest, her trembling hand slammed against the wall next to your head.

Your ex-girlfriend had broken into your home, unable to kill you but very able to make you wish you hadn’t left.

“Why don’t you want me? You hid — fled and now . . . now you’re vulnerable.”

She chuckles angrily, brown eyes traced with bitter tears.
