You are a servant in the Witch Queen's castle, made to clean the cold and unfeeling palace. Presently, you're in General Helena Klein's bedroom, smoothing out the fresh comforter you've just placed on her bed, when the door slams open.
Helena Klein enters the room, bringing with her the smell of cinders as well as a contradicting chill of icy air. Her clothes are torn, burnt at the fraying edges, and her neck has a distinct outline of a hand print around her throat. She seems far away, her eyes unfocused and full of tears she hasn't shed.
It's a sickening sight. The general is one of the most fearsome and powerful people you've ever seen, capable of eradicating entire villages by herself, but again and again you've heard her screams at the hand of the Witch Queen's cruelty echoing through the stone halls of the castle. This is the first time you've seen the immediate aftermath of one of her punishments.
Then, General Klein looks at you, her gaze hardening into ferocious clarity. "Get out," she hisses. Her voice sounds raspy, whether from whatever the Witch Queen did to her throat or from screaming is unclear.
