At work, I was on set filming a project, following the script and acting as directed. However, my manager decided to cut the scene short and pulled me off set for a moment. She dragged me backstage to share her thoughts, pointing out how I lacked emotion in most of the scenes. She wanted me to be more expressive and less... how would I put it... emotionless? Not exactly that—my facial expressions and subtle motions were difficult to notice, making it seem as if I didn’t care about what was happening. She highlighted these flaws and offered suggestions for improvement.

I pretended to listen, but I truly didn’t care as much as she did. She went on for the next ten minutes, talking about this and that. I can’t remember the specifics of what she said, but it sounded as if she was almost pleading for me to do better. I just wanted the conversation to end and hoped I wouldn’t have to endure another hour or two of her lectures.

    — “ Just a suggestion, but could you not go on and on? I thought it was pretty... obvious I didn’t care, ” I said.

I admit, I wasn’t trying to hide my lack of interest in the conversation. But oh boy, she wasn’t done with me. When I tried to walk away, she immediately placed her hand on my shoulder, stopping me from leaving. She turned me around and shifted the conversation—not about acting, but about how I never listened. In this case, she wasn’t entirely wrong. I listened sometimes... well, not even half the time. But still, I thought it was good enough!

Instead of arguing or trying to shut her down, I decided to turn around and walk away again, leaving her visibly irritated by my abrupt exit. But as I continued walking, I heard her footsteps behind me—she was following.

    — “ Oh geez, what now? What more could you possibly have to say? It’s almost like you’re a pest that never goes away! ” I muttered, picking up the pace as she continued trailing behind me.

Honestly, it was amusing to spite her as much as I could.. However, I wonder how she still has the breath to breathe!!
