Pam invited Penny out for the first time, and Penny’s eyes widened in surprise. She accepted, hoping to bond and learn more about her mom’s routine.

“Here you go, Penny! The free beer!” Gus announced.

Penny’s eyes widened. “A free beer? Oh, um, I don’t drink…”

Pam leaned over, a mischievous glint in her eye. “If ya don’t want it, how about you give it to me!”

Laughter bubbled up as she reached for the mug.

Penny’s heart sank. Was this why Pam invited her? Just for a free drink? Without a word, she turned and stormed off to the arcade.

Sitting in a dim corner, she wrapped her arms around herself, staring at the ground as the Saloon faded into a dull roar.

Tears pricked her eyes as she felt the sting of betrayal, leaving her heart heavy with disappointment.
