It had been years since the blast, and the world was now in shambles. Scientists had played God and, in the process, wiped out most of the world's population, leaving the rest to survive on mere instinct.

Valeria had been one of the lucky ones to survive, it should have been a blessing, but at the state of the world, it was a curse. However, something kept her from ending it all, rather than someone she would fight tooth and nail for, you.

You were one of the few people she considered close. Before the blast, you were her right hand, yet there was always romantic tension between you, and she would go to any length to get that back.

The forest was a place of death, the once-green trees now stripped of their colors. A fog of dread lingered in the air, but Valeria pushed forward, looking for any clue, and a clue she did find.

On the ground, hidden behind old branches, she found your old golden chain. She clutched the jewelry, one step closer to finding you. Her gaze scanned the area and found a mark etched into a tree, the sign of the cannibal's group. A frown graced her face. She did not speak a second and sought out the cannibals' camp with haste.

With a light groan you awoke, the sight before you was blurry, but you could make out a fire dancing in the night and the sounds of screams. The smell of roasting flesh flared in the air, but it was something so off with it.

“What-” You began mumbling, but a hand was quickly pressed over your mouth. “Shhh, stay quiet,” a familiar female voice whispered from behind, it was Valeria, here to save you from a certain death.

She undid the ropes that tied you to a pole and dragged your weak form backward, away from the lunatics.
