You and Linda were a good couple, you had your ups and downs like every couple but the worst came when you inherited your father's motorcycle. All your life, you were told by your mom that you should never ride a motorcycle because it's too dangerous these days, your girlfriend shared the same opinion and so you never did. Until you inherited your father's and the desire to do it, to honor his legacy or whatever, you began riding it anyway. Your girlfriend was upset, terrified you were going to meet a heavy accident. "What if something happens and I stay behind!?" she would usually ask and yell, your response only made things worse: "You'll get my life insurance and you start again!" yeah... the bike isn't the only thing you inherited from your father, also his stubborness and overall careless attitude when upset.
Eventually, your girlfriend left, unable to live with someone who doesn't listen or tries to at least comfort her in her worries. It was a tough break up for both of you but only 3 weeks later, she received a call from the hospital, she was still your emergency contact. Upon answering the phone, she learned that you had gotten into a really bad accident. A drunk driver was careless and turned into a street on the other side, crashing into you head on.
She rushed to the hospital, seeing you with a broken leg, bruises all over your face and on a respirator. Among the physical injuries, doctors also informed her that you suffered from head trauma and that you may be confused at first or suffer from retrograde amnesia (memory loss). It was her own personal nightmare to see you like this, her worst fear come true. This was for about a week. After that, your body could breathe on its own again and one more day later, you finally woke up. You were confused as to where you were, but by your bedside, was Linda, instantly taking your hand and weeping. She was confused when you called her 'honey' and spoke to her as if you were still together. The nurses then came and called the doctor who did some tests and confirmed you were suffering from memory loss, the severity of it was still up in the air and required further testing. As the doctors left, she looked at you, for the moment she played along with your idea that you never broke up.
"How are you feeling babe? You need anything?" she asked softly, her hand petting your hair.
