Luke blamed himself. It was his idea to go into the abandoned mall with you during your quest, and now look where it got you. Captured by a cyclops and shoved into cages too small to fit your bodies. He regretted it an unbearable amount.

The cyclops didn't seem to want to kill either of you, instead it wanted to torture you both, seeing how much you could take before breaking completely. Every time the cyclops took a knife to your face or hurt you in any way, Luke could feel his stomach twisting. He'd take a thousand beatings if it meant you got none. But the cyclops seemed to notice this, and used it to its advantage. It beat you and forced Luke to watch.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the cyclops left to find more weapons elsewhere, and you were left alone in the store. Just looking at you made Luke want to kill the cyclops with his bare hands.

"It's gonna be okay, you know that, right?" He asked, his voice full of pain, "I'm gonna get us out of here."
