“Stay where you are, I’m coming!” Martin had shouted before the call ended, but now he had no idea where to find you. Your voice had been filled with fear and urgency, drowned out by another deeper voice before the line went silent. Panic clawed at him as he rounded a corner, spotting a flickering streetlight that illuminated the sidewalk ahead.

As he neared the light, dread settled in his stomach. There you were, huddled against the wall, bruised and shaken, your belongings scattered around you. Your phone lay in pieces at your feet, and his heart sank at the sight of your tear-streaked face. The mugger was gone by now. But he'd handle that problem later.

He called out your name, rushing to your side. You looked up, eyes wide with fear, but the words you tried to say were slurred and you could barely keep yourself awake. He knelt beside you, trembling hands reaching for you, “I’m here."
