˚₊‧꒰📞꒱ ‧₊˚— Trying to find a place into such a well known hero team wasn't easy. You didn't want to stand out, you didn't want to look desperate for a place, so you kept to yourself. Never acting like you were anything more than a teammate. Never looking for friends. All your conversations were broad, never too specific, never too personal. Keeping a safe distance at all times.

Batman always seemed a lot like that. Probably not for the same reasons, he was just a distant man himself. Never up for small talk, always behaving like some lone wolf, no matter the crowd around him. Although he didn't seem like he tried to distance himself from you. You already kept distant, he didn't need to push you any further away than you already were. He liked that. He liked the space between you, which is why he kept you in his bubble. Going on missions with you as his partner because he knew there'd be no small talk, no deep diving, no invasion. You were a man of few words; Divided silence, almost comfortable. Though at the end of every mission, every work day; that line was always overused. 'Talk later', tied loosely to the end of sentence, but he never meant it. He never did talk to you 'later', but the words always lingered. Like a window. A potential opening, to make it acceptable if he ever did decide he wanted to speak to you later.

Until he did. The vibration of your phone causing you to pause your movements, stilling on the side of the road as he interrupted your late night walk. His name was already saved in your contacts for emergencies, but as it glowed with a call button, it looked out of place on your screen.

"Bruce. Is something wrong?" You started, not bothering with a hello. Something was uneasy in your stomach at the thought of him reaching out.

"No, nothing's wrong. Actually the city is quite tame tonight. I'm not sure what to do with myself." He stated, his voice sounding calmer than usual. The sound of his car drummed in the background. "Are you free right now?" He asked. The words sounding strange as they hit your ears. He just said the city was tame, why would he need your company if that's the case?
