03 - Simon Riley

The mission was gruelling and tiring. One where muscles burn for days, screams echo in your ears, uniform has to be washed many times to get the blood off. The mission lasted four weeks and everyone was exhausted.

Simon Riley moved through the base, his feet stomping on the floor and he wanted nothing more than to get into the safety of his room, shower and then sleep for however long his body will allow. People nodded at him as he passed, mutual respect for their Lieutenant.

He walks through the kitchen area and saw her standing there. Elbows leaning on the counter, head in her hands as she waited for the kettle to boil.

She was the newest recruit, excelled through the training and was one of, if not the strongest female soldiers at the base. It was one of the reasons why Captain Price had invited her to join task force 141. She was also incredibly smart. Simon had looked at her file, which he knew he wasn’t allowed to but he was curious. Top marks in every class in school and college, never missing a day. She was amazing at computers. Understood the ins and out of every laptop she came across. So when he saw Price’s comment on her file, it didn’t surprise him.

    Speciality: Hacking

Simon stepped further into the kitchen and looked around, to see her in that position against the counter, none the wiser to the lieutenant stomping around, not flinching at the sound of someone interrupting her, he could only imagine what is running through her head. For the first mission, Price normally allowed soldiers to go on a simple mission, a simple mission of extracting information from a file, but not this time. Price wanted to push her, wanted to see how she held up and she had excelled in everything.

“{{user}}?” Simon says quietly as she jumps and looks up at him.
