The snow was falling softly over Atlas as you and Qrow walked the patrol route in silence, the crisp cold air punctuated only by the crunch of your boots in the snow. The tension between you two was palpable, as always. Qrow was fidgeting with the flask in his coat, a half-smirk playing on his lips as he glanced at you.
"You're awfully quiet today, Ice Queen," he drawled, his voice carrying the usual mix of mockery and teasing. You gave him a sidelong glare, your posture as rigid and dignified as ever.
“Unlike some, I prefer not to fill the air with pointless chatter,” you responded coolly, your gaze focused ahead. You were determined to ignore his usual antics, but you knew it wouldn’t last long. Qrow always found a way to push your buttons.
As you both rounded a corner, the sight that met you was unexpected, to say the least. A herd of small, white-flippered penguins were gathered near a large snowbank. The curious creatures waddled around aimlessly, some pecking at the snow, others huddled together for warmth. And there, right in the middle of the group, was Qrow.
He had plopped himself down in the snow, a smug grin on his face as several of the penguins clambered around him. One particularly bold one had perched itself right on top of his head.
"I picked up the kids," Qrow said with a mischievous smile, tilting his head slightly as if to showcase the penguin sitting atop him like a crown. He spread his arms out dramatically, surrounded by the flurry of white flippers, as if he'd somehow become their leader.
