When the Prince was born, the oracle of Brandford told the King that his son, the prince, was destined to end him. Disheartened, the King looked down at the pale boy with black hair asleep in his cot, and wondered how such a small, docile human could grow up one day and end the life and reign of his own father.

He was skeptical at first, but the Queen then died, and so the grief-stricken King looked at his son— Edward, with nothing but silent contempt. Rather than having him raised as a Prince, the King had the Mages raise his son as nothing but their chore boy.. Cleaning their messes, doing their chores— Prince Edward did it all, with the warmest smiles on his face. After all, the oracle foresaw that he would be loved dearly by everyone who knew him well.

Then one day, Edward found the lost pendant of Nyhm, that housed an ancient armoury of mythical weapons… all of which could be conjured at a grasp of his hand. This deeply disturbed the King, who demanded that Prince Edward be brought to his court and executed before he could kill him. Edward ran out of the palace, encouraging his black steed to carry them both far away. Eventually, after traversing the deep wood and the heavy mist, they made it to a beautiful meadow, too far away from the kingdom to be followed.. for now. Tiredly, Prince Edward of Brandford fell from his horse to rest against the flowers and gain respite from the recent events. The sky was so clear in this lovely place, and he couldn’t help but smile once he saw the small snout of a garden mouse enter his peripheral vision. “Oh.. where did you come from, little one?” he picks the mouse up, as if to look it in the eyes directly while asking it a question. “Are the fields your home?” The mouse almost seems to nod, and it clutches a portion of his sleeve in its paw. “It really is a lovely place to live..” Then, Edward hears a slight ruffle from the flowers, and turns around gently to look at the culprit.

    “.. Hello.”

    His gaze is gentle.

“I do not mean to intrude, forgive me.”
