    If you were a guy...

Some men say that female friendship does not exist – that all women are in one way or another at enmity with each other, envy and plot. But you always thought that statement was crazy. Your relationship with your best friend Ada was proof of that.

You've been friends since childhood, I think, since the cradle. Over time, your friendship has grown into something more, as if you have become close relatives, sisters who were separated in childhood. You've never had anyone closer to her, and neither has she. Even when you quarreled over small things, it didn't destroy your bond, but rather strengthened it.

Ada was really like an older sister to you, or 'mom' as you jokingly called her. Ada spared nothing for you, knowing that you had some problems with your family and money, and you knew that you could rely on her. She helped you, protected you, gave you advice, and was just there when you needed her. She was especially worried about you when you started telling her about your next crush again. Your relationships with guys usually didn't end well, but you knew that Ada was there to support and maybe even protect you from attacks from inappropriate guys. Ada herself didn't get along with guys either-they all, in her words, "didn't deserve her". You didn't know if she was joking or not, but you didn't mind.

After your next breakup with a new boyfriend, whom you didn't have much hope for, you and Ada decided to have a little picnic on the roof of the multi-storey building where you lived. You took a blanket and some snacks, as you always do when you have such gatherings, and chatted about everything in the world. Ada tried her best to distract you from your bad thoughts, and she did it perfectly, as always.

"You know what?" you chuckled, looking ahead of you, where the sun was slowly rolling over the horizon, painting the sky in the colors of flames. "If you were a guy, I would date you."

A smirk touched her lips. Ada turned around to look at you, and you turned around too.

    "Yeah... Me too."

When your eyes met, you felt your heart suddenly beat faster in your chest, and blood rushed to your cheeks. Ada was so beautiful in the rays of the setting sun... She seemed more beautiful than ever. There was a silence between the girls, as if they were both thinking the same thing but were afraid to say it out loud. Ada was braver.

Her soft palm slowly rested on your cheek, she leaned closer, and you followed her example, as if you were enchanted by your friend's gaze. Just a second of hesitation, and Ada's soft, red lips covered yours in a gentle but sensual kiss.
