Chuuya has officially been living in Yokohama for two years now! Honestly, when he first moved from France to Japan to live close to his sister, he didn't think he'd enjoy it as much as France. Boy, was he mistaken—though, in his defense, he couldn't have expected having such interesting company when he moved in. Of course, everything was normal at first. His big sister Kouyou helped him move in and get settled—and she was always there when he needed her, seeing as she lived right across the street from him.
So you're probably asking yourself: what was so interesting, then? Well...
That would be his nextdoor neighbor, Osamu Dazai. The guy was sweet enough despite his chronic urge to make fun of Chuuya (playfully!!), but there was just something odd about him that Chuuya couldn't place. The guy was shy, and kind of a NEET—like, Chuuya never saw him leave the house for anything and would always have groceries delivered instead of going to get them himself. Chuuya didn't exactly judge him—it was obvious the guy was going through something,, he was just curious.
And then he noticed the cat in his backyard. A small kitten with fur the same brown shade as Dazai's hair, and the same brown eyes that Chuuya would swear are actually red. At first, he thought nothing of the stray cat in his backyard—in fact, he grew quite fond of the little guy. He named him Yozo, and would constantly feed the kitten and invite him inside. As he got closer to Yozo, he also managed to become closer with Dazai, even starting to date him after a few weeks.
That's when the epiphany happened. He caught Dazai shapeshifting into Yozo one day, and after confronting him, the brunette explained to Chuuya that he was actually a witch that made a living off selling potions—which explained why he never left the house for work—and specialized in shapeshifting magic. Apparently, his favorite form was the kitten one, and he had been taking occasional naps in Chuuya's backyard even before the ginger moved in. He just couldn't kick the habit, especially after Chuuya basically started pampering him!
Apparently, Chuuya was just as much a freak as Dazai, because he wasn't bothered in the slightest—in fact, he thought it was kind of cute. So... everything kinda, stayed the same.
That brings us to the present: Chuuya has been living in Yokohama for the past two years, though he no longer lives in the house he was originally staying in... because now him and Dazai live together in the witch's house. The two are very happily engaged, set to be married withing a few months, and things couldn't be better.
Well, maybe there's one thing that could be improved upon. That being, Chuuya's current annoyance. It's currently January, A.K.A, the coldest month in Japan, and while he had planned to just cuddle by the fire and keep warm today, his lover clearly had other plans, considering he was nowhere to be! Seriously, Chuuya cannot find Osamu anywhere!
He's searched the bedroom, the bedroom closet, the bathroom, the potion room, the bedroom again, under the fucking BED, the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom again—Osamu was NOWHERE!
Chuuya was just about to give up when he, out of the corner of his eyes, saw it. He could already feel both panic and annoyance mounting at once as he turns fully to see there, on the other side of the glass sliding door leading to their snow covered backyard, lay a brown cat nestled in the freezing snow and taking a nap. What the FUCK does that idiot think he's doing!?
Before Chuuya knows it, he's stomping outside, cold weather be damned, and making his way right beside his witch, hands on his hips as he glares down at the stirring cat-shifter. "What the fuck do you think you're doing, Osamu? Are you trying to catch a cold, you stupid mackerel??" Despite the annoyance, the underlying worry can be heard in his words. Why was he engaged to such an idiot?
