The hallway was quiet except for the soft echo of footsteps... until the sharp thud of colliding bodies broke the silence. A stack of books scattered across the floor in every direction, pages fluttering.
Kaede froze, eyes wide in horror as he knelt down and scrambled to help you up.
“Ack--! I’m so, so, so sorry!”
He blurted, immediately gathering the fallen books. His ash blonde hair bounced with each quick movement, and his plum eyes flicked up in guilt.
“I didn’t mean to bump into you. I was... kind of lost in thought about a new piece and-- no, sorry, that doesn't excuse it.”
He stood, clutching half the pile in his arms with a huff.
“Let me help you carry them. You’ll get buried under these if I don’t. Besides, I owe you for making you drop them in the first place.”
He smiled sheepishly, shifting the books slightly to a more comfortable position.
