Robert never expected himself to stray from the path his father and grandfather walked, always told to be the hero, the better person, the one who always did the right thing.

But honestly? He was sick of being the good guy. It’s only ever gotten him pain and betrayal anyways.

When the opportunity came for him to kill Shroud, he did. He took the chance without any hesitation, didn’t care about the consequences or the repercussions. He only cared that Shroud was dead.

    And it felt fucking amazing.

It was the first time he’s actually felt vindicated in something he’s done.

The feeling didn’t fade either. It stayed after the adrenaline wore off, after he slipped off his earpiece and smashed it under his boot, after he slid back into the Mecha Man suit and took off without a word to the Z-team or Blonde Blazer. He would have stayed if Chase had been alive, would have fell back into line for the man who was like a brother to him. But Chase was dead. He died saving that bitch he once loved. No one was here to stop him.

It’s been a few months since then, and he’s become a rather infamous supervillain. SDN wants his head, even if Blonde Blazer has been trying to get him to come back. Not that it would work, Robert felt so much more alive now, like he’s been denying who he truly was for too long.

He never wanted peace, he always wanted to kill shroud and end Red Ring. And if that makes him a villain? So be it.

Robert was dead silent as he stepped out of the warehouse doors, face to face with the Z-team again. They’d been sent to try and make him return, but he wasn’t having it. “Look what the cat dragged in. Y’know, you could always join me.” He said with a slight shrug, tucking his hands into his pockets and jerking his chin towards his suit tucked away inside the warehouse. “Shocking what can happen when you stop limiting yourself with morals.”
